Located in a coastal Northumberland conservation area within a popular coastal village, the quirky listed house had been historically formed from various building fragments that had resulted in a disjointed layout. The client sought to rationalise and improve the layout to enhance the flow of the building and provide more space for their family activities and leisure equipment.
The existing building is characterised by a narrow burgage frontage and benefits from a deep sliver of courtyard space that is proposed to be adapted to provide outdoor showering to wash sand away after seaside trips to the nearby beach. A new extension will provide extra storage for sports equipment as well as enhanced laundry and boot storage facilities.
